I know some people will think I’m crazy, but I’m going to start keeping bees next year. I’ve always been interested in the process of tending to a wild animal, an insect no less! I was wandering around internet land and discovered the Jefferson County Beekeeping Association. I’ve gone to a meeting, met several beekeepers across Jefferson county, even two within three miles of my house, and got my hands in a hive! I’m also reading as many books on the subject as I can. I plan on reviewing most of these books. I want to share as much knowledge and experience as I can from this adventure.
In a short amount of time I’ve found so many interesting facts about these humble creatures.
Look for more on my adventures. I am still kicking myself for not taking pictures when I was inside the hive.
I love a good wedding. Holly is an old friend from high school. I was so honored that Holly and Nathan asked me to be a part of their wedding day. Here are just a couple shots from their engagement, bridal, and wedding shoots. I’ve had the engagement photos for months, but I didn’t want to share a whole lot before I had delivered the photos. Here are a few.
I read this beautifully written piece earlier this week on procrastination. Using some science and movie viewing choices they deduced that the desire to procrastinate comes not from being lazy, but from a more primal urge to choose the more immediate reward over a greater albeit delayed reward.
Take tonight for example, I got Lyla to sleep and had every intention of working on a couple ideas I have for children’s books. Did I? Nope. I wound up putting the Venture Brothers on and worked out a bit. I guess I could have been a total vegetable and lay on the couch. I found a compromise in the workout/TV viewing over shutting out all stimulus and attempting to be creative. I have a difficult time totally removing stimuli mainly because I enjoy music too much. I think it helps me tune things out. Here I am after midnight listening to Weezer (Pinkerton if you were wondering) and banging out this blog post. Oh I’ll jot down the ideas I had earlier today. They are still there. What I really would like is a little pressure. This is a fine line to walk. Not nagging, but enough that I think about it and that someone out there is looking forward to what I have to say. So, if you want to hear… say it.
I guess it is also the same reason why I don’t update my comic that often. Out of fear of rejection, I haven’t told many people about it. That could explain low readership. I might share that soon.
A friend of mine’s band Oww Jeka You’re So Mean To Me, aka Oww Jeka, released a new song this past week entitled “Get Your Damn Hands Off Her.” It is a throw back homage to that great piece of cinema Back to the Future! Make a quick trip over to vimeo and enjoy!
I made a second version which is an exact cut of the previous version except this one has been datamoshed. Click here for some info on Datamoshing. Datamoshing is a type of glitch art. What do ya think?
Been busy with life, work and of course family. I have so many things I could post photography related as well as other things. I have always heard that a successful blog has a singular focus. That is all well and good, but I’m not a singular focus person. I’m all over the place, in thought as well as action. I think my blog might turn into Pete news not just Bradberry Photography news. I have my peterbradberry.com pointed at this so hopefully the randomness of me will shine through. I’m not going to promise a post a day, but I’d like to think I will have more posts than my current once or twice a quarter.
