I don’t know if you know, but if you buy film it has an expiration date usually on the package. It really isn’t an expiration date its more of a best buy date. The manufacturer doesn’t guarantee the color accuracy of the film past that date. One way to extend the usable life of film is to keep it in a dark cool place. Some people even put film in the freezer to help it keep longer (Make sure you thaw it before using).
I found a few rolls in a box from college. No date, but I knew they were pretty old. Here is a shot from one of these rolls. The colors skewed toward blue. While I wouldn’t use one of these rolls for a portrait session, they are fun for happy accidents.
