Merry Late Christmas and Happy New year!

Wow! Can I say that having a child in the house is a massive change?  Huge change. Little things like running to the store are events. A full night’s sleep is a blessing. Sometimes stressful, but so worth it.

With the new year,  a lot of people talk about resolutions.  I am sure that over the next few days I will hear from multiple people, “Hey Pete, what are your new years resolutions?”

My pat response is, “I don’t do resolutions. I do goals.”

A goal has a target. Webster’s defines a goal as: 2: the end toward which effort is directed. The other definitions deal with sports goals, but much like sports my goals have a specific outline and path that leads me to them. When Amberly and I were married in 2005, I set several long term goals for myself and a time for them to be completed.

I have accomplished all, but one. The one that is left is very close to fruition. If anyone is interested the crown jewel can be viewed daily here. She is only one of several large goals. I had no idea that I could accomplish what I have in such a short amount of time.

Now, I need a whole new set of accomplishments to strive for.  I have a few things in mind, but I need to map them out before I can fully commit myself to them.

I feel that goals with their power of scheduling and planning work better than random wishes thrown out at the first of the new year. I encourage everyone to set goals, create a path for victory, and constantly monitor your progress.
